    Happy New Years everyone!

It's time to start locking in our Haliburton All Rides Weekend at the "Haliburton Hardwood Forest and Reserve". The planned date is  AUGUST 14 to 16. I am throwing the weekend open for guided ( or unguided) road, gravel and mountain bike rides. Within the next month the decision will be made to book a large campsite for all participants or separate sites depending on our numbers.  This event is open to all members/families . The costs and method of payment will also be published then.

This will be a fabulous weekend of riding, camping ( anyway you like) camp fires, water sports ( details to follow) great eating ( The Boshkung Smokehouse.)  There is the Wolf Center to visit, do a Canopy Tour and study Astronomy at the observatory and many other activities presented by the Reserve. . Relaxing is optional too. I'm quite familiar with the Reserve and the area in general so please reach out to me if you wish to.

This past weekend we held another Party in the bush. This time we were on the Inglewood Trails. This wasn't just another weekend with grown men playing with machines in the dirt....actually it was.  But, we accomplished our goals of installing 2 culverts across the trail, extending water management swales by hundreds of linier feet,  raising the trail bed and diverting water courses on "The Luge " and the exit trail to Inglenook Court.  Great thanks go out to Joe, Blair, Eric and Sidak for working hard under trying conditions.  Special thanks go to Sidak for working out an incredible deal for the machine rental from Stephensons Rental for the machine. This trail will be a blast next spring.

Looking for interest and comments regarding scheduled Fat Bike rides this winter.

  • November 06, 2025 6:54 AM | Steph Laba (Administrator)

    Hey CCC riders,

As we gear up for the colder months, there’s lots happening on and off the trails — from our Snowdog fundraiser and winter events to trail updates and next season’s race plans. Here’s what’s new and how you can get involved!

    Snowdog Fundraiser

We’re raising funds to cover part of the cost of our new Snowdog, which will help us groom select trails at Palgrave for fat biking this winter. Our goal is $4,000. The club will take care of ongoing maintenance and operating costs — we just need your help to get started.

Please contribute what you can to support winter riding in Caledon.

    24 Hours of Summer Solstice

We’re planning to return to the 24 Hours of Summer Solstice next year — one of the most fun and social races of the season.

Our goal is to bring as many teams as possible and set up a shared central camp for all CCC riders.

There are options for solo riders or teams of up to ten, including all-women, all-men, and mixed categories. Registration opens in early November, so we need to know who’s interested soon. The cost is approximately $160-185 per person.

Winter Solstice Ride & Hike — Dec 20th

Join us for our annual ride or hike at the Dingle on Saturday Dec 20th, followed by an optional group lunch. It’s a great way to mark the shortest day of the year and catch up with fellow riders before the holidays.

    Trail Update: Erin Closure

Erin trails will be closed from November 3–8 for deer hunting season. Plan your rides accordingly and stay safe.

    Trail Building Highlights

It’s been a busy and productive year for trail work!

    Albion Hills

We extended the IMBA Trail, rerouted Live and Learn, refreshed Pinecone Express, and built Boulderdash — quickly becoming a club favorite. We also improved Gnarly Berms with a reroute and new features, and wrapped up the season by extending Epic Ride. Big thanks to everyone who picked up a shovel this year!

    Erin Trails

This summer, we focused on the new skills park, with Mean Green and Quantum Leap nearly complete. The goal is to give riders a place to repeat sections and build skills — from advanced riders practicing jumps to beginners working on control and body position.

Next year, we’ll shift focus to refreshing existing trails, improving flow, and balancing the climb-to-reward ratio.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers for their hard work and enthusiasm this season. You’ve made a lasting difference.

This photo’s from our ride at Hockley Valley in September, where we tackled their beautiful — and seriously challenging trails.

Our first group ride happened on September 20th and was greatly attended under a beautiful sky. The trail conditions were really good and challenging...ok, lung busting!  My thanks go out to David Best of Hockley Valley Resort for welcoming us, comping the ride fee and allowing CCC to alter the trail direction to suite ourselves.  Our lunch outside on the deck was tasty and the beer hit the spot.

All in all, it was a grand day. To help along with building a relationship with Hockley Resort all attendees now have season passes to the trails at the resort.  Regular mtn, road and gravel rides could be in the club schedule going forward.  Please forward your comments regarding this possibility.

Volunteerism..is that a word? It doesn't matter. It simply means pitching in. On September 14th ,  20 plus members pitched in to help build new trails and features in the Erin trail network.

It was a fabulous day of camaraderie, bad jokes, trail and feature building . The day was fortified with Caledon Brewery beer and hydration drinks and the now most famous Bar-b-q ever!  Lunch was lemon and Tandoori chicken. Working in the bush has never tasted so good.  The newly created trail work was ridden on later in the day. Incredible.

The many hands made for light work and the vibe in the bush was terrific. The CCC trail crew members punch way above their weight. Our trails are the envy of clubs around us all because of the dedication of our volunteers  who put in the time to make it happen.  This is one of our pillars of strength . More trail building days like this are coming up. If you haven't yet volunteered for trail building, please give it a try. No experience is necessary. Just bring your smile. Hey, free Bar-b-q and beer.  You Can't go wrong.

The results have been in for a while.  I'm slow.

Fun, excitement, incredibly positive vibes, an excellent track under the best conditions you could ask for, excellent food and a really good beer selection. The Mansfield 24 hour Race on August 9 -10 was an absolute blast.

Sarah Caylor rode the event solo while Karl Brown and I were members of the Deez Wingnuts and the Loose Egg adhoc team.

This was my first experience at a 24 hour race and I highly recommend it. Racing at night is a thrill.  Don't hold back if have considered riding this type of event.  The Mansfield 24 hour experience is well worth dipping your toes.  The entire atmosphere of the event was positive and I will do it again. I've made a slew of new friends  and that's always good. It would be a terrific for the CCC to present a team or two next year as I'm sure this race will become an annual event.
